Thu Sep 29 Moorea, Society Islands 8:00am 5:00pm Ships anchor off the town of Vaiare on the east coast -- or in Cook's Bay or Opunohu Bay on the northern coast -- and tender passengers to makeshift villages that spring to life only when ships are in.  pdf document. (On File)  The best way to become acquainted with Moorea is to take a "circle Island" tour. This type of tour takes about 4 hours and has visits through small villages and stops to photograph the spectacular views of Moorea’s mountains, valleys, lagoons and bays.  Princess $69 to $89 PP.  Enjoy Moorea at your own pace by renting a car, motor scooter or motorcycle. The island has many world-renowned rental car agencies including Avis, Europcar and Pacifcar. Call family-owned Albert's Rentals for scooters and cycles. Open cars called "Mokes" are also a fun way to get around the island, and can be rented wherever cars are available.  Rent car for about $80 from Albert’s -  sent request for tour options to Alberts.4/8.  Probably have to pre-reserve to get car to Dock??  Snorkeling in the encircling lagoon makes for a delightful day trip.  Perhaps can be combined with car rental or tour.  If you've never seen Polynesian dances or attended a Hawaiian luau, Tiki Village Theatre (689-55-02-50) will satisfy your curiosity. You'll be immersed in island culture as craftspeople live and work here, carving wood, making flower garlands, and dyeing pareos. There's also a model pearl farm. Tiki Village is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Thu Sep 29 Papeete, Tahiti, Society Islands 9:00pm  Cruise ships dock in the heart of Papeete, Tahiti's capital city, alongside a charming waterfront esplanade reminiscent of the French Riviera.  For local color, nothing beats the Marche du Papeete; Tahiti's main marketplace (located a block behind the waterfront). You can buy everything from flowers to fruit and fish or crafts and gifts.
Fri Sep 30 Papeete, Tahiti, Society Islands 5:00pm  Nothing beats renting a car and doing it yourself. As someone who has driven in Tahiti several times, it's a fabulous place to explore and with your own car you can see what you want at your own pace, stop anywhere, get that particular photo, drive out as far as beautiful Tautira etc. The cross island track is only possible with a 4x4 vehicle and I'd recommend you take plenty of water and maybe your own lunch because restaurants beyond Papeete hardly exist. Organized tours aren't really necessary here.  Yeah driving in Papeete may be a little unnerving to some(w/ all of the roundabouts etc.) but once outside of the city it's easy cruising along the beach road and a proper tourist map will identify the worthwhile stops ie. Botanical Garden(s)/Waterfall(s) etc...Tours are best negotiated after arrival than on line.

Sat Oct 1 Bora Bora, Society Islands 7:00am 4:00pm - MAOHI NUI  EXCURSIONS - FULL DAY TOUR ON THE LAGOON, WITH TAHITIAN FEAST or Tahitian BBQ $125 each US Cash.  Reserved. Rated the 14th best beach in the world by Trip Advisor.

Tue Oct 4 Pago Pago, American Samoa 8:00am 5:00pm  Pago Pago (pronounced Pango Pango ) is stunningly beautiful, so make sure you're on deck with your camera when your ship enters and leaves port.  The waters off the island are a mecca for marine life. Southern humpback whales winter here between August and November, and porpoises and sperm whales visit regularly. Various species of marine turtles call these waters home. If you stay on deck as your ship departs, you may see several whales swimming in a group alongside the ship. And that might just be the most fitting farewell to this beautiful yet remote destination.  Cruise ships dock right in the center of the town, next to a busy container dock.  t rains an awful lot here, so bear this in mind when venturing ashore. Although it's a warm rain, a true downpour may soak you with little advance warning. Also, due to the strong role of religion in the community, women are advised not to wear shorts when visiting the countryside.  Pago Pago is a compact place, and you can walk the length of the town as it follows the seafront for a bit more than a mile. The town is surrounded by steep hills just a few hundred yards from the waters' edge, so the inland area gets narrower the farther you go from shore.  Interactive map
·         The Jean P. Haydon Museum (tel. 633-4347) in the center of Pago Pago is housed in an old iron-roofed building that was once the U.S. Navy's commissary. It features artifacts and objects linked to Samoan history, sea life, canoes, kava making, and traditional tools and handicrafts, including the finely woven mats that have such great value in Samoa and Tonga. The museum is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., except on holidays; admission is free.
·         Pago Pago Tradewinds Tours  - Betty Cavanagh in Pago Pago who said that she can set up a tour for our group with an itinerary which would include:The U. S. National Park of American Samoa,  Fatu Ma Futi - Flower Pot Rocks,  A village showing true Samoan village life,  Maliu Mai Beach,  Former Governor Tauese's home and museum,  Scenic drive around the island.  Cost undetermined at this time.
·         tisa [tisa@tisasbarefootbar.com]  We offer a  sightseeing tour to the beautiful Eastern Side of our island. All is on the dramatic coastline from beginning to end  up a the World Famous Tisa’s Barefoot Bar and Grill located on a private cove, where you will have lunch, sunbathing, snorkeling, and or just relax at one the most beautiful spots in the world where relaxing is a must. We offer lunch of locally grown organic food and a great outdoor bar  to relax in the shade  from the tropical warm sun. Transportation is included on this 4 hour tour.  We accept credit cards to reserve your tour. Cost per person is $60.00 each.

Wed Oct 5 Cross International Dateline Noon 1:00pm

Fri Oct 7 Suva, Fiji 8:00am 5:00pm   At this time Princess shows no tours for Suva.  Fiji Museum  Historical Buildings walking tour.  Watch for aggressive Men. River Tours - Operators pick up at Suva hotels for rafting and canoeing tours down Navua and Nasori Rivers, west of Suva.
I'd recommend doing any tour that takes you out of Suva. I wouldn't exactly say it's dangerous, but it's quite dirty, and noisy and the locals can get a bit pushy when they realize you are a tourist. We did Tour SUV-E - Fiji's Capital Suva & Historical Museum (1/2 day tour) which was a sightseeing tour of the town followed by a visit to the museum, a drink a the Holiday Inn on the Harbour and a stop at a shop in the city described as a "craft shop" but which is actually little more than a small department store, and not very cheap either. The tour was OK, but there were better ones on offer than with hindsight I wish we'd done instead. But it was my first visit to Suva and I wanted to see as much as I could. My parents did Tour SUV-A Pacific Harbour Cultural Extravaganza, and they loved it - it goes to a Cultural village, where they demonstrate the traditional fire walking and other local culture, and apparently there's some really nice craft stalls and things there. This also includes a bit of a sightseeing tour on the drive to and from the centre. If you do choose to go into town on your own - just keep your wits about you - and listen to the very sound advice that they'll give you onboard the ship, about the traps you can fall into with the "souvenir" sellers that gather on the road between the wharf and the town centre.
